Today has been productive. I finished reading The Iron Queen and gave it five stars on Goodreads. I remember picking up the first book in the series not knowing what to expect and now this :') Ahh, it was so brilliant. I don't often say that about the supernatural books I read, though I do love them (and read a lot of them), but yeah I loved it.

I've also finished the writing portion of Crushed, part 15. To the untrained mind, writing fanfiction may not seem all that productive. But the thing is, writing it about 1D, and writing Crushed, especially has helped me make friends and friends that I had already have given me compliments to help boost my confidence. Yeah, I have a long way to go still but it's helped :) And while writing it I got over my shyness of showing Eliz what I've written. She's read Growth, at least part of it, but she hadn't read my ~fic before this. Basically writing it has made me happy and that's something I've needed.

Anywho.

I continue to see nothing wrong with the new series/cast of Skins. I don't know why people are calling it the things they are (though it's gotten a lot of positive reception also). I guess it's to each his or her own, but I dunno. I guess I've put aside my nostalgic ways because by now we should be used to this, new cast every two years. That's how it is.

And I like the dynamic of the new cast. I like that the new characters aren't exactly like the gen1 and gen2 ones. Everyone is an individual and not making them exactly like the older cast reflects that. I like that they're not all "party all the time, rave rave rave" - Skins is about individuals. It's sort of coming-of-age in a way. And it's clearly reflected by the new series.

And I also liked Rich's episode. I liked that he was a complete asshole, but then had to go through something extreme (like temporarily losing his hearing, however stupid his methods might have been) to change. I liked that the episode ended on a bittersweet note, and I liked that Franky remained a flawless individual. Grace was amazing and weird and I loved her, and Alo was fantastic. I lol'd at the "gay gay gay gay... gay" thing because you can tell he actually doesn't give a shit, and was actually doing it to help his friend. And his words of wisdom after Rich rejected Grace. Rich and Alo's dynamic = amazing, Grace + Rich's future = let's hope they have one.

Excited for Mini's episode! I love how because Skins has you look deeper into an individual character's life you can end up liking someone you didn't like before. That happened with me and Cook for instance.

Anyway, my verdict... I think I'd give the episode a B+/A-
